An Asset Management System gives users the ability to monitor and maintain assets across an organization. In doing so, stakeholders have the opportunity to track asset performance, improve routine maintenance, predict potential failures, and make decisions based on data in order to minimize downtime and extend asset longevity.

Creating assets.
By creating identifiable assets, users can categorize and prioritize assets that support their organization. This gives users the ability to pull assets in-and-out of service, track asset statuses, manage asset inventory, and create asset hierarchies which are used to better visualize their function within its environment. Detailed reporting can be used to manage the overall health and performance of an asset, creating accountability to everything owned.
Asset locations.
To improve logistics for assets tied to service orders, assets can be assigned to a geographical location. This can be used to improve field maintenance processes and support personnel who service multiple plants and work centers. By assigning an asset location, users can improve field service jobs and service order lead times.
Additionally, assigning a work center to an asset can enhance capacity planning. Scheduling services orders for assets that are associated with a work center will deduct from the available capacity in Master Scheduler. Work centers can also influence the list of assets, when taking them in-or-out of production.
Items and inventory.
Items related to the maintenance and repair of an asset, can be defined to a specific asset or group of assets. This can be used to track and monitor items required to fulfill service orders. Within an asset, inventory can be added or subtracted from the asset form in order to assist maintenance personnel in the field.
Adding assets to service orders.
Service orders related to assets can be viewed through the service schedule when creating a service order. This gives users visibility into the status of each service order. By assigning service orders to an asset, users can gain a high-level view of all outstanding service orders related to that asset.
Creating asset hierarchies.
For assets that are dependent upon each other, users can categorize them in a hierarchy with a parent/child relationship. By placing assets into an asset hierarchy, it pairs assets with one another, creating a functional and visual relationship that can be used in capacity planning, mitigating downtime, and improving overall performance.
Further integration into Insight Modules.
Users can fully integrate the asset management module into other modules within Insight such as Shop Floor Assistant, Business Intelligence, Service Management and Scheduling.
