The Network File Server in an Insight environment stores key output documents, such as CNC machine program files, files of e-mail attachments, and so forth. It also stores intermediate data from third-party systems, such as engineering configurators and point of sale systems.
The following miscellaneous file server recommendations pertain to Insight environments:
- The file server does not have to be a dedicated Insight server.
- If you already have a file server in your environment, you can also use it to support the Insight environment. However, if the file server is already heavily used by other applications and/or users, consider using a different server as your network file server.
- The file server should have a minimum of a 1 GB/sec connection to the database server.
