Install Inresponse services

  • In the Distribution Media folder of the Insight installation package, expand Client Applications and double-click setup.exe. 
  • In the Setup Type dialog box, select Custom and then click Next.

  • In the Custom Setup dialog box, click the Inresponse button and choose the type of installation. In the following example, Inresponse and all subfeatures will be installed.

  • Click Next and then Install to install the application. 
  • Ensure that the Inresponse user account has modify permissions for the directory where Insight is installed.
  • Double-click the Inresponse Service Manager desktop icon.
  • The Inresponse Service Manager opens.

  • In the Service Type list, select Standard. 
  • Click the Add button.
  • Complete the fields in the Install a new Inresponse Service dialog box, as described in the following table. 
FieldDescription
Service NameUnique name of the Inresponse service.
Note: Do not include spaces in Inresponse service names.
SQL ServerHost name of server or workstation where the Insight database resides.
DatabaseName of the Insight database.
UserDomain name and Windows user name of the user context for the service in the format DOMAINNAME\username
Note: The Windows user name used to install the Inresponse service must be part of the following Microsoft Windows local security setting policy: 
    Log on as a service
You can modify this setting for the user in Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy > User Rights Assignments > Log on as a service.
PasswordWindows password associated with the user name.
Default Log LevelNumber that represents the type of service information to store in the text log file. For more information about the log level, see Setting the Log Level in the System Administration chapter of the online Help.
Restart TypeSpecify if and when the service restarts. Select one: Auto, Manual, Disabled.
Max Memory SizeThe number of megabytes of memory consumed by the process that triggers the Inresponse service to automatically stop and restart. Default is 8192.
Shutdown DelayHow long Inresponse should wait when shutting down to allow in-process tasks to complete. 
Start NowIf selected, the service starts automatically after you complete this installation process.

TIP: Although you can install more than one service with the same configuration on the same computer, running them at the same time is not useful to the Insight system.

The following example shows a completed Install a new Inresponse Service dialog box.

  • Click OK. A command shell window displays status messages as the system installs the service.

  • Press the Enter key. The Inresponse Service Manager displays the installed service.

Configure Inresponse User

After you install a service, you need to set up the Insight user context as an Inresponse user. For information about configuring Inresponse users, see Inresponse Console Form > User Configurations Node in the Form Reference chapter of Insight Help.
