Creating a service order

Service Orders are classified into two types; asset and service based. Traditionally, asset-based requests support internal operations, while service-based requests support external, or customer operations. Users can create Service Order Types based on these classifications.

The system comes with three, default Service Order Types:

Asset Service Asset class-based request
Maintenance Service class-based request.
Standard Service class-based request.

Additional service order types can be added using Lookup Table > Service Order Types.

For an asset-based order, you must specify the Plant and the Asset it pertains to. For a service-based order, you must specify a Customer and the related sales order(s) that it pertains to.

Additionally, users can create service orders in bulk, by using the system action Creating Service Orders for Assets.
